I use a lot of stones, but the ones I most commonly use are: Agate, Amethyst, Apatite, Aquamarine, Citrine, Jade, Labradorite, Lapiz Lazuli, Rainbow Moonstone, Mother of Pearl, Freshwater Pearl, Ruby, Topaz, Tourmaline (watermelon and pink),) Turquoise, Zircon.
Agate is an earthy and grounding stone. It anchors your energy to the present. It can stimulate imagination, aid in concentration/focus and bring stability to the wearer. It comes in many colors: Red, orange, yellow, pink, grey, blue, black and white. It is characterized by its stripes and bands , and often mined in AfricaAmethyst is known as the all-healer. It stimulates creativity and is excellent for meditation and spirituality. It is said to enhance psychic ability. It ranges from lavender to deep purple, is associated with the third eye.
Amethyst. Amethyst usually is a transparent variety of quartz that comes in shades of purple. In the context of alternative medicine and spiritual practices, amethyst is believed to promote calmness, reduce stress, enhance intuition, and aid in spiritual growth often associated with the crown and third-eye chakras.
Apatite is generally blue, yellow, purple and pink. I use neon blue apatite, from Madagascar, which resembles the very rare Paraiba Tourmaline. It is bright blue in color, relatively soft – so be careful with it, and is said to banish negativity and balance the heart chakra. It is a manifestation crystal and may also strengthen our connection with the animal kingdom.
Aquamarine ranges in color from pale blue to Cerulean blue. It is associated with the water element, as well as he throat and heart chakras. It boosts courage, heightens intuition, encourages tolerance and responsibility and aids in communication. It can also be a purifying stone for both body and mind. Aquamarine is one of my favorite gemstones.
Citrine is a sunny, golden yellow. Also called the Merchants Stone. It is a stone of abundance and prosperity that boosts mental stimulation and its radiant energy dissolves emotional toxins. It aids in teaching, learning and studying and is wonderful for supporting new beginnings.
Jade is a protection crystal that attracts harmoney in your life. It promotes prosperity and abundance. It is a crystal of wisfo and is often used in dream work. It comes in a variety of colors, most particularly pale green.
Labradorite is a variety of feldspar known for its iridescent play of colors. The stone itself tends to range from light to dark grey. The more blue flash, the more valued the stone. There are many ancient myths surrounding this mysterious and lovely stone. If it is one you wear, it’s worth reading up on. It is generally found in Madagascar and has a Mohs hardness of 6-6.5. It boosts creativity and inspiration, calms an overactive mind.
Lapis Lazuli is a dark cobalt blue stone with flecks of gold. It can be green, but that is the less prized color. This stone is mentioned often in the Bible and was used to create dyes for paints and clothes. Cleopatra is said to have crushed it and used it for eye shadow. It protects against negative energy, attracts kindness, love and harmony. Improves creative expression and aids in organization. It is a stone of spiritual awakening, wisdom and healing.
Rainbow Moonstone aids wisdom and insight, balance mood swings, soothes emotions, inspires creativity and helps with change, new beginnings and endings. It is also prized as a travellers’ talisman. Often found in Sri Lanka and India, it is associated with the moon and the water element.
Mother of Pearl is harvested from the inside of pearl-producing molusks. It soothes the nerves, helps deal with difficult emotions, boosts communication, and hope and brings tranquility.
Pearls are a gem of wisdom, peace and femininity. They balance the aura and the emotions while attracting abundance and prosperity. Pearls are the only gemstone on earth that come from a living thing. Associated with the moon, the heart chakra and the water element, they can be soft and delicate to wear so they should not be slept in, worn 24 hours a day etc. Take them off, wipe with a cloth and store them in a soft bag or puch so they don’t scratch.
Ruby is one of the most prized gemstone in history, and is often more valuable than diamonds. It ranges in color from a pinkish color to deep “pigeon blood” red. Depending where it is mined it can be UV reactive. Actual Brumese Rubies, for example, glow in black light. Ruby is a very grounding stone associated with the root and heart chakra, it increases motivation, boosts sexual energy and acts as a protective talisman. It is believed to increase courage andprotect against negative energy. It is a great stone to carry or wear during difficult situations. It is a 9 on the Mohs scale, making it very durable.
Topaz is known as a wish stone, it attracts abundance, wealth and success and is said to aid in manifesting desires. It boosts vitality, individuality and aids in increasing drive to achieve goals. It is a highly creative and expressive stone. It comes in a variety of colors but i tend to favor blue. It is the stone of Sagitarius and associated with fire. It stimulates Sacral, Solar Plexus, Throat and Crown Chakras.
Pink Tourmaline boosts feminine energy, helps relieve worry ad stress, provides protection during spiritual and shamanic work. It has a gentle energy that soothes the heart and mind, making it a popular choice for comfort and support. It is also believed to enhance psychic ability and is used in divination work. It is found in Madagascar, Brazil, Afghanistan and the US. It is associated with the Heart Charka, the element of Water and the planet of Venus.
Watermelon Tourmaline is generally characterized by a ring of green tourmaline surrounding a pink core or it can be pink at one end and green at the other. It relives stress, boosts practicality and creativity. Deepens connection to nature, calms the mind and emotions and also balances male and female energy. It’s a great stone for when you feel out of balance in your energies and with nature. It is associated with the Heart Chakra, Venus and the element of water.
Turquoise is a copper and aluminum crystal found in dry barren regions like the American Southwest, Mexico, Iran an Cornwall. It is actually fairly rare and is often counterfeited as dyed howlite or mangesite (which are both pretty, but they are not turquoise.) It is a popular stone among the Native Americans, believed to be a stone of water created when the etars of the creator fell to earth. It is prized for its sky blue color and considered to be a good luck stone. It boosts spiritual awareness/connection, improves psychic abilities, balances male and female energies and is a strong communication crystal associated with the Throat Chakra.
Zircon helps unlock spirituality, aids in meditation and focus, while connecting you with the higher realms. It stimulates the flow of energy through the body and is powerful to wear during yoga practice. It is associated with the Sun, and the Root Chakra and Solar Plexus. It is found in white, blue, yellow, red and green. The blue variety, which is what I use, is found in Vietnam. it has a high dispersion rate, like diamonds, so it is very sparkly. Some varieties are naturally radioactive and must be treated in order to stabilize them and make them safe to wear.
